Mission of the Social Welfare Foundation of Helmond and environs

Social welfare and women's aid promote a society in which everyone can develop and progress as he or she wishes and in accordance with his or her capacities, without exclusion, violence or suppression. A society in which people lead a meaningful existence, preferably as independently as possible.

SMO aims to fulfil that social function with an attitude of respect for the clients and their individual qualities, capacities and restrictions.

Social welfare and women's aid aim to achieve the following in a professional manner:

  • Prevention of homelessness (prevention)
  • Offering shelter and support to people with a need (care) and
  • Supporting people in living independently (recovery)

SMO is aware that this objective necessitates continual coordination and cooperation with other parties relevant to the clients.

SMO therefore invests in cooperative relationships and sees itself as the coordinator of the support chain.
